Tosin Otudeko

Writer/Producer, The Garden Theatre

Tosin Otudeko is a writer, poet and producer who has written for film, theatre and TV and has developed a catalogue of musical poems. She is the writer and producer of the 'Heartbeat' Musical which has further been developed with collaborators and produced by Lufodo Productions. She is the writer and producer of 'Over The Bridge' feature film (2023 release), a commissioned writer for film and series writer for TV (The Wedding Party - Netflix, E.V.E – Africa Magic DSTV, Desperate Housewives Africa –Ebony Life TV), the writer and producer for the poetry album 'For The Love of Words and Music.'

The Garden Theatre was set up as a vehicle to create, perform, produce and collaborate. It has enabled her engage a variety of inspiring talent including musicians, dancers, actors, poets and singers.

Tosin’s producing credits include; Renaissance (a showcase of multi-disciplinary arts – 2001), Job’s Wife (Dec 2007), Music and Lyrics (a showcase of music and the spoken word - Mar 2008), Heartbeat, by The Garden Theatre (Dec 2009, Dec 2011), New World Nigeria showcase at Theatre Royal Stratford East as part of the London 2012 festival during the Olympics, (Jul – Aug 2012), British Council Lagos Theatre Festival (2014), Digging For Gold - Corporate Entertainment, (November 2014), Heartbeat The Musical with Lufodo Productions (Sept 2016 – Mar 2017).

Her performing credits include, ‘Azue’ in Ahmed Yerima’s play ‘Little Drops’ produced by Today’s Woman Magazine and Lufodo Productions (Rivers State Government), ‘Nali’ in Job’s Wife (Garden Theatre Productions), Performance poetry from The Garden Theatre Poetry Collection.  

Tosin completed the L.A.M.D.A One Semester Course in Classical Acting (2005) and the Stage One UK Producers Workshop (2014). She was a Judge on FIRSTARS, a reality show and competition designed to discover and develop producers, directors, scriptwriters, art directors and actors (Ebony Life TV 2016). She was a Screenwriting Facilitator on the Riverside Studios/Fate Foundation Imagery programme to develop aspiring filmmakers and screenwriters (2017). She is a consultant to L.A.P.A performing arts institute founded by Olu Jacobs and Joke Silva and part of the A.W.E network of Mentors (Association of Women Entrepreneurs) in collaboration with the U.S Consulate in Lagos. She is a member of the WGGB (Writers Guild of Great Britain) and she currently serves on the Film Committee and is part of the annual WGGB awards voting panel (2018 till present). She is also currently a member of the Recording Academy (GRAMMY’s).

Her musical, poetic and writing journey started as a child wielding words together, making musical theatre, pursuing a passion for performance and a little love of alliteration!

Her career, preceded by a first class degree in Chemistry with Patent Law degree and work experience in various sectors including legal and consulting roles (Lovells UK, Accenture Nigeria, Interact UK), has since taken her off the beaten path to discover her unrelenting need to create original works and tell timeless stories to a global audience
